Suresh Kumar is a Senior scientist at ICAR-NIASM.He has been awarded young scientist award by Samgra Vikas Welfare Society, Lucknow and Bioved Research Institute of Agriculture & Technology, Allahabad, UP for his contribution in horticulture and postharvest technology respectively. He has been awarded K.U. Patel Memorial award for his best paper in Indian Food Packer. He visited USA under NAIP sponsored training programme and underwent advanced training on Biomolecules separation from plants at Michigan State University, East Lansing. He has developed various technologies for processing and value addition in horticultural crops. Osmo processing for bamboo and pineapple, processed products from indigenous fruits like taktir, drying technologies for bamboo are noteworthy.
Suresh Kumar research interest is on identifying effect of abiotic stressors on quality of horticultural produces including antioxidants, flavonoids and phytochemicals. He is interested in bio-prospecting and separation of bio-active compounds from horticultural crops which could be used for fortification of foods and thus alleviate hidden hungers like vitamins, protein and essential bio-regulating compounds.. He has published more than 50 research papers of national and international repute, 20 popular articles and 4 review articles. He edited souvenir, written many book chapters and published four book, seven technical bulletins and 35 seminar abstracts
